About Me
Alexis Rivera is a writer, director, and treatment designer from the Bay Area, now based in Los Angeles. Her work is rooted in telling emotionally resonant stories that center Black, Latinx, and female experiences. With a focus on cinematic, culturally grounded narratives, Alexis explores identity, survival, and joy through her films.
She began her career at MACRO, where she advanced from intern to floating assistant across Television, Film, and Brand & Events, working directly under Chief Brand Officer Stacey King. That foundation led her to set life as an Office PA on a MACRO project, where she first discovered her passion for directing. Alexis went on to serve as Director’s Assistant, supporting a wide range of high-profile projects including Snowfall, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Dead Ringers, Y: The Last Man, and Gossip Girl, as well as music videos for artists such as Chlöe Bailey and commercial work for brands like Adidas.
In 2023, Alexis was selected for the UCLA Showrunning Fellowship, where she refined her understanding of how to build and lead a television series from the ground up. The following year, she launched Homestretch Media, a creative studio and production company dedicated to helping projects find their voice at the earliest stages. Homestretch specializes in designing pitch decks, sizzle reels, and other development materials for production companies and independent artists, working across features, pilots, commercials, and music videos. By blending Alexis’s storytelling instincts with a polished, cinematic design sensibility, Homestretch Media has become a trusted creative partner for artists looking to transform ideas into industry-ready presentations.
Alexis’s work is gaining significant traction. Her short film was a finalist for the TDE Grant. She launched a vertical mini-series that has caught the attention of multiple production companies as she prepares for its second season, and is in pre-production on an all-female-cast suspense drama and a music-driven series.
Beyond her own projects, Alexis is also one of the founding members of Fish & Scripts, a creative community event in Los Angeles for Black creatives to share scripts, eat southern-fried fish, and foster connection. With a strong vision, a unique cultural lens, and proven experience across the industry, Alexis Rivera is poised to be a standout voice in the next generation of filmmakers.
